REAL TIME OBSERVATIONS GMT OBSID ----------------------------------------------------------------- none Notes from 9 am meeting ------------------------ OPS: Passes over the last day(s) Dumps Data loss Load is good -> CAPs Next passes MP: (no meeting today) S/C: (no meeting today) GOT: (no meeting today) DATA: (no meeting today) SOT: Proton rates are high and steady. Unless the rates increase, the ACIS orbital fluence will probably not exceed 3e9 for this orbit. The halo CME was observed following the X3 event on December 28, one of the most energetic x-ray solar flares of this solar cycle. It probably caused the current high proton rates. The CME was one of the highest velocity coronal mass ejections. Auroral activity at mid latitudes on Earth were expected last night. The Sun is rather quiet today. There is a low chance of a CME arriving within 96 hrs and a high chance of M or X class flares in the next 48 hours.
