SOT/ACIS Shift report M670 -- ADDENDUM Tue May 22 15:07:22 EDT 2001 S. Virani PLAN: Execute CAP #726 to run the first test of the new "Cuckoo" mode on the S0 CCD _without_ using the squeegee clocking. If this test is successful, successive runs will be performed in the daily load. SUMMARY: We executed the first run of Cuckoo clocking without squeegee, via CAP #726. It ran on ACIS CCD S0, with a frame time of 3.3s, and packs the equivalent of 16 columns into the telemetry stream. This mode is intended to collect data on the effect of downstream events on CTI. All such previous runs utilised squeegee clocking. This data will help us with the ground correction of the CTI by accounting for the effect of downstream charge. Everything seems to have run smoothly and the data is as expected! Radiation Environment: * All ACE rates are low. * GOES-8 rates are flat, with P2 (4-9 MeV) hovering much less than 1 p/cm2/s/sr/MeV. However, there is small rise in the P1 (0.8-4 MeV) but it is of order 4-5 p/cm2/s/sr/MeV. * EPHIN rates are sufficiently low to start the activity (right at the beginning of COMM it seems). I can't remember the last time we were this low and had the radiation environment as benign as it currently is as well as the focal plane being as cold as it currently is!
