SOT shift report 2001-11-20 L852 Start at 2001:324:13:28 GMT = 2001 Nov 20 08:28 am EST End 11:45 am EST SOT Lead Ed Kellogg PLAN ---- High radiation resulted in a Chandra science instrument shutdown, running SCS 107 at 2001:324:03:15:11 UT. ACE proton levels peaked at ~324:00:00 and are dropping. They are now about half of their peak twelve hours ago. Replan today and start observations tomorrow morning with Hubble Deep Field, OBSID 3389. RADIATION SUMMARY Observed Limit ----------------- -------- ----- ACE 2 hr fluence 3.0e8 3.6e8. REAL TIME OBSERVATIONS GMT OBSID ----------------------------------------------------------------- 0 fids, 5 stars 1245 3363 Notes from 9 am meeting ------------------------ OPS: Passes 3 over the last day(s) Dumps current Data loss - Load is good -> CAPs 593 @324:02:58 to activate SCS 107 Next passes 1915, 0100 MP: We got 75% of the OBSID 3363 V410 Tau observation. We are replanning today to resume with OBSID 3389, HDF; uplink at ~9 pm tonight, final check ~7:45 am tomorrow. We'll get a new starcat this am and issue new products at ~noon, with a review ~ 4pm today. Mike Juda and John Chappell reminded us that we need to reposition the HRC door. We'll plan to do that well before the next HRC observation. S/C: The xmtr limits are set just at the peak of its output, so the recent violation may not be significant. It's being discussed with TRW West. GOT: The reboot of EHS servers and workstations will be at 11 am - 4 pm Friday. The firewall problems yesterday were fixed by a complete firewall reload, including its internal operating system. DATA: We are seeing more incorrect starcats, most recently for OBSID 1585. A solution to this is being prepared by FOT MP: a perl script for the SOE. It will be brought to the FDB in ~1-2 weeks. The most recent observation, OBSID 3363,shows a high background in the S4 chip. Joy notified Paul Plucinsky. She is also looking for other recent observations with S4 to see if the effect persists. SOT: Proton rates are high and dropping gradually. Solar activity was low yesterday. We are still seeing elevated proton levels from the previous CME, but they are dropping; no increases are expected in the next day. There is a low chance of a CME arriving within 96 hrs and a moderate chance of M or X class flares in the next 48 hours. MEETINGS: Flight dynamics training at 2:30 today. -------- Data ---- On colossus (/dsops/GOT/input), - Nov 20 04:13 2001_323_1644_324_0009_Dump_EM_13362.gz Evaluation of QL data --------------------- Target: OBSID SI SOT Eval. ---------------- -- --------- 2MASSJ222202+1952:obs2173 ACIS-I nothing obvious M31-S2: obs2887 HRC-I OK M31-S1: obs2891 HRC-I OK M31-CORE: obs2904 HRC-I OK M31-N1: obs2908 HRC-I nothing obvious M31-N2: obs2912 HRC-I OK 1RXSJ1153+5456:obs1975 HRC-S nothing obvious M31 NUCLEUS:obs1585 ACIS-I OK V410 Tau:obs3363partial ACIS-S Source OK, but high background in S4 chip NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS --------------------- We observed high background in the S4 chip data from OBSID 3363.
