Observing 'FXRT011030', obsid 3412, with ACIS/S. Space Weather Report: Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at moderate to high levels. SOLAR ACTIVITY: The large and growing sunspot 9715 has developed a twisted "delta-class" magnetic field that harbors energy for powerful X-class eruptions. This spot is nearing the center of the Sun, so explosions from its vicinity this week will likely be Earth-directed. An M6 class flare was observed from region 9715 at 332:1635. A partial halo CME accompanied this event. Another, longer duration flare has just subsided. Low energy proton flux is about 300 but has started to increase. EPHIN rates are still low at this time. The current was noisy and now seems to be settling at a level about 3ma above the previous level 110ma to 113ma. There was no associated bias shift. TRW West has been notified. - There were FSS thermal yellow limit violations yesterday, on the FSS brackets and center panel. These were caused by a combination of long rises in temps due to surface degradation, a fwd pitch attitude and tightened limits. Rino indicates that we have lots of margin on these temps and has increased the limits. - These was a HRMA thermistor limit violation on RT560 on day 327 (Nov 23). This is thought to be telemetry and Mike Watson is looking into it. SOT(Bill): - Radiation flux level (soft protons) is low as are EPHIN rates, however, there have been M class flares (one yesterday, one today) with a partial-halo CME (the one yeaterday and probly the one today). Radiation levels will most probably rise tomorrow or Saturday. DSOPS(Jen): - One QL (see below) - The high background rate reported yesterday in obsid 3152 was incorrect, furthur investigation indicated that the observation was nominal. GOT(Mike): - Reboots of EHS machines done and all OK.
