Soft proton levels are low, but two X class solar flares and CME have been recorded in the last 18 hours: an X1.6 category flare at about 01:05 GMT today, and another X1 class flare just announced that occurred at 1642 GMT. GOES hard proton rates are climbing, and the EPHIN P4GM rate has started to as well, although still 2 orders of magnitude below the SCS 107 trip level (Current 3.4 vs. Radmon trip of 300). The situation bears watching over the (yes, you guessed it!) weekend.
