SOT shift report 2005-12-07 L2695 Duration: 07 Dec 2006 07:00 EST - 07 Dec 2006 9:15 EST (Day 341) 07 Dec 2006 12:00 GMT - 07 Dec 2006 14:15 GMT SOT Lead: Bill Podgorski PLAN ---- Solar radiation levels rose yesterday in response to repeated flare activity from active region 930 (two X-class, one M-class and numerous C-class flares). SCS 107 ran autonomously yesterday afternoon at 2006:340:16:16Z. This trip was probably due to an E1300 combination of actual radiation and current-limit effect. An Earth attitude violation would occur at 2006:341:20:06Z so a maneuver-only load was required. This load, DEC0706A, was prepared, reviewed signed off and uplinked in this morning's pass. It is good for several days. Replan: Will develop replan load aiming to uplink during the 342/2145-0000 pass (BOT: 2245), starting late in this pass with 'IRAS 20050+2720' (obsid 6438). We will discuss the situation after tha 9 o'clock tomorrow. Seq # ObsID Constr. Continued flare and CME activity are expected from region 930. 3-day Solar-Geophysical Forecast issued Dec 6 at 22:00 UTC Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be high. Region 930 is expected to produce M-class flares and there is a good chance for further X-class activity. Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be unsettled to active on 07 - 08 December with a chance for periods of minor or major storm conditions due to the recurrent coronal hole high speed stream. Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected on 09 December. The greater than 10 MeV proton event is expected to continue for at least another 24 hours EPHIN rates (cts/cm^2-s-sr) at last comm.
