SOT shift report 2006-05-24 L2498 File created at 2006:144:12:58 UTC = 08:58 AM May-24-2006 EDT End 11:00:00 AM EDT SOT Lead: Ed Kellogg --------------------- NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS --------------------- At 2006:144:06:03:28.000, we were unable to receive data from JPL. We presently are not receiving real-time telemetry, not dumping the SSR, and are sending SSR reset commands in the blind. We are unable to receive CARs (Command Acceptance Responses), R/T telemetry, monitor and CDR data from JPL. The GOT & JPL/OPS Chief were notified. Notification to FST by the GOT was attempted without a response. DSS-16 was brought online to see if this was an issue with DSS-24 - no joy. Ops Chief requested we try DSS-46 to see if this was a Goldstone issue. DSS-46 shipped TLM for 3 minutes with no joy as well. No commanding was used with DSS-46. Commands to reset SSR-A were sent in the blind with DSS-24 @ 0518z. If SSR reset commands were successful then SSR-A will roll over at ~ 144/1350z (today at 9:50 am EDT). If not, the the SSR rolled over at 144/0620z. The GOT has checked data paths at our end as well as the T1 line and everything appears OK. We have been in touch with JPL. We collectively believe it's an issue with routers at JPL. They have called in their router people, who are working on it now. The data from Chandra are presumably in the CDR at JPL, and will be available for 30 days. Our onboard observing command loads are good for about three more days. We would not want to do further commanding in the blind. On an entirely different note, the new addition to our building under construction here at One Hampshire Street had a fire. No impact to us. The solar flare activity level was very low. No C class events were recorded yesterday. (http://www.dxlc.com/solar/). GOES x-ray flux: a few short duration class B bursts yesterday spread over several hours. Quiet today.. CMEs reported for past two days: May 21-23: No partly or fully Earth directed CMEs were observed in LASCO imagery.
