Item 1. Contributed IDL Software to Apply a Temperature-Dependent CTI
Correction to ACIS Data
==========================================================================

Contributed IDL software to apply a temperature-dependent CTI
correction to ACIS data is now available.

The temperature dependence of the CTI will have the largest effect on
fits to line-rich spectra and high signal-to-noise spectra. Continuum
spectra and low signal-to-noise spectra will be less affected. The
temperature-dependent CTI correction is not necessary for imaging or
timing analysis.

The software is intended for Timed Exposure (TE) Faint or Very Faint
mode observations where the focal plane was greater than 153.95 Kelvin
(-119.2 degrees Celsius) for any part of the observation.

To download the software or for more information, please refer to the
page http://cxc.harvard.edu/contrib/tcticorr/.

As with all contributed software, this is not an official CIAO
tool. The user is responsible for the validity of any scientific
results obtained from their analysis.

The temperature-dependent CTI correction will also be included in
version 4.3 of CIAO, scheduled for release in December 2010.
