Custom Processing of Chandra Data

Present Status

Automatic processing is currently available 3-4 days after the observation and this is the routine way for data distribution to the scientific community. There are instances, however, when custom processing of Chandra data can be performed. This includes speedy manual processing of data soon after receipt in cases when such a processing is justified (e.g. TOO processing), and custommanual reprocessing of already distributed data with an upgraded version of either software of calibration files.

Custom Processing Request

To ensure that the extra effort is justified, and equity between external and internal (CXC and IPI) Chandra users, requests for custom custom processing of GO, GTO, and TOO data require special approval. Requests should be submitted to the CXC Helpdesk and should include a short, precise, justification (e.g., "rapid inspection needed to set up for second observation, seq.no. 700999", or "needed for Nobel prize lecture on 9/31/00"). The CXC will inform the proposer whether their request has been approved and serve as point of contact for its status if so.
