CIAO 4.0.1 Release Notes

Return to: Version History

[New] (22 Feb 2008) CIAO 4.0 has been patched to CIAO 4.0.1.

In addition to the patch, there is a standalone version of ObsVis that does not require CIAO be available on the user's system. This version of the application is designed for non-CIAO users who are writing a Chandra proposal. The standalone ObsVis is available for download from the ObsVis website.

CIAO 4.0 Release Notes

ObsVis

The CIAO 4.0.1 patch contains improvements to the proposal-planning tool ObsVis.

Changes to ObsVis

  • Highlights include:

    • Implementation of new grouping, "grid", which allows the user to create and manipulate rectangular regular grids of fields-of-view (FOVs). Users can resize, move and rotate the grid as well as add, remove, and modify single grid members.

    • Group members can have attributes synchronized so that the changes of one FOV in group are mirrored by other members.

    • Improved checking to prevent members of a synchronized group from occupying the same ds9 frame and members of a compound group from occupying different frames.

There are also a number of user interface upgrades, including:

    • capability chip labels on and off
    • a new preference setting for node boundaries colors
    • the target point marker size reflects dither pattern size for selected instrument
    • name resolution from target name input

Standalone ObsVis

  • There is a standalone version of ObsVis that does not require CIAO be available on the user's system. This version of the application is designed for non-CIAO users who are writing a Chandra proposal. The standalone ObsVis is available for download from the ObsVis website.
