Downloading CIAO 3.2
Latest Update: 23 June 2005
CIAO 3.2.1 has been patched to CIAO 3.2.2.
Details on how to apply the patch are available on the
platform-specific download pages.
CIAO 3.2 is available for:
To use CIAO you also need to have the Calibration Database
(CALDB) installed on your system:
Some tool changes and calibration released in CIAO 3.2.2 and
CALDB 3.1.0 affect analyses in progress, i.e. certain
processing steps should be run again for greater accuracy. The
How
CIAO 3.2.2 and CALDB 3.1.0 Affect Your Analysis section
of the release notes
describes those changes, as well as the affected tasks.
There are known problems with the CIAO download pages in the Mac
OS X Safari and Internet
Explorer browsers:
-
Safari: users of this browser are
able to register and download the installation files,
but the cookies which store user information are not set
properly by the registration page. Since the cookies are not
saved, you will be prompted to register again if you wish to
download files for more than one platform or return to the
site at a later time.
-
Internet Explorer: when downloaded, the
tarfiles are not saved with the proper filename
(e.g. .tar.gz), but with a .cgi
extension. If the file is renamed with the correct extension,
it will unzip and untar correctly.
If you are working on a Mac, it is recommended that you choose
an alternate browser - such as Mozilla
Firefox - to avoid these problems.
Required files
To install CIAO 3.2 you need the following packages
- available from the platform-specific download pages, on the European
Mirror Site, or on CD via the Helpdesk -
for your machine:
The Installing CIAO 3.2
thread explains in detail how to install each of
these software components.
Optional files
There are two optional packages - the source code and
the OTS (Off The Shelf) collection of external programs/libraries
used by CIAO - that can be installed.
These are only needed if you wish to re-compile CIAO
yourself.
Users doing spectral analysis (e.g. line indentification) may
also be interested in installing the Atomic Database (ATOMDB). The
ATOMDB Download page has
information on this package.
