The hardware and software development activities of the Data System were described by Pepi Fabbiano. Diagrams were shown for the Data System, the user interface, the network design, and the user facility. Prototypes to validate design concepts were described. Allyn Tennant suggested that the Users' Committee should see the prototypes in operation and this will be arranged for the next meeting. Mike Watson asked how much software will be designed to run at user sites and the answer was, `the analysis and proposal software as well as elements of the pipeline processing system'. He was also concerned that the catalog should show numbers actually associated with the observations (e.g., observed rather than planned exposure time). The ASC will ensure that this occurs.
