What is the limiting file size for CIAO?
The CIAO Data Model uses CFITSIO to process FITS files. By default, CFITSIO can handle FITS files up to 2.1 GB in size (231 bytes). The newer versions of CFITSIO (2.100 and above) can support FITS files larger than 2 GB, but this support must be defined at the time it is compiled; see the Size Limitations section of the CFITSIO documentation for more information.
