Welcome to the Chandra X-ray Center Helpdesk

In order to streamline support requests and better serve you, we utilize a support ticket system. Every support request is assigned a unique ticket number which you can use to track the progress and responses online. A valid email address is required to submit a ticket.

You may also submit a ticket by sending an email to cxchelp@cfa.harvard.edu.


End of Year 2025 Schedule

Please note that the CXC helpdesk will only have minimal staffing from close of business 19 December 2025 until the morning of 05 January 2026

Emergency tickets will, as always, be handled expeditiously; however, routine helpdesk requests submitted during that time will be addressed after this brief hiatus. 


Problems with CIAO?  Please be sure to include:

  • Which version of CIAO?
  • What operating system & version?
  • The full syntax for the command(s) you are running.
  • The complete text of all messages or warnings.


Do not include screen-shots of text in terminal windows; please cut-and-paste the text into the helpdesk ticket.
