May 16, 2005 Shift Report
--------------------------

On Saturday SCS 107 ran autonomously at 134:13:24:19. We lost the
last quarter of obsid 5475, an ACIS-S/HETG observation of GX339-4, and
obsid 5839, an HRC-S LETG ToO observation of 3C454.3 in a high state
in order to detect absorption lines in the local intergalactic medium.

98.2ks net of previously scheduled on-target time was lost.

The replan load MAY1505A was built and uplinked during the 135:1930
comm. This load picks up the previously scheduled MAY1305 sequence of
observations. There remains the possibility to redo the 3C454.3 ToO on
Thursday, if it remains bright.

05/14/05 telecom
----------------
- SCS 107 tripped at 2005:134:13:24:19. Chandra is in a safe attitude and good
thermal configuration for at least 4 days. The SCS107 run was nominal.

- Proton rates still generally rising. CME from major M8 proton flare in
region 759 is still en route, expected to impact Earth sometime between 20h
UTC on May 14 and 15h UTC on May 15.

- ACIS CTI CAP will be prepared for possible uplink at the 2005:135:03:45
or 2005:135:13:40 passes. This is contingent on seeing passage of the
CME shock and then recovering to 1/3 RADMON threshold levels.

- Given the radiation situation there is no realistic hope of recovering
science (the blazar TOO) for the remainder of this orbit through
2005:135:18:17. The next orbit contains constrained observations
so it is not possible to replan the TOO for that time. We were unable
to contact the PI for an assessment of whether the TOO could be done
  in the following orbit.

- Replan activities are starting now, first to determine when a maneuver is
required to sufficiently cool EPHIN. The baseline plan now is to replan the
perigee and resume with the originally scheduled science plan in the
MAY1305 load. Uplink opportunities at 2005:135:13:40 and 2005:135:19:40
tomorrow. Loads expected out this evening.

- Next radiation tagup TBD based on events during the next day
