See http://cxc.harvard.edu/mta/SOT_reports/sot-shift.html Shift L5653. Start at 012:16:00 GMT Telemetry at the 11:15 PM EST Jan 11 COM indicated that the input current and 5V power supply on side A of the Digital Processing Assembly (DPA) are both zero. The status bits that indicate the state of the DPA indicate that side A is enabled but the power is off. This might be another occurrence of a spurious command from the RCTU turning the DPA side A off. When side A of the DPA is off, the Back End Processor (BEP) is also off. This means that ACIS is not receiving and executing commands from the daily load, hence no science is being done. The ACIS team will need to examine the dump data to determine if the telemetry are consistent with a spurious command shutting off the DPA. The next two COMs are: Support (GMT) BOT EOT Track time (local) 012/1115-1330 1215 1315 0715-0815 EST, Mon 12 Jan 2015 012/2005-2220 2105 2205 1605-1705 EST, Mon 12 Jan 2015 It is doubtful the diagnosis will be complete by the 7:15am local time pass. We will target the 4:05pm local time pass for a recovery. OC/CC have extended the 4:05pm local time pass. That pass has been extended to last 7hr 45min. That should be more than enough time to restore ACIS to the expected configuration if the anomaly can be explained by a spurious command. PLAN ---- As of 1600 UT: 1) The ACIS team has completed our analysis of the telemetry and all data are consistent with a DPA side A shutdown due to a spurious command, similar to the previous events described in Flight Notes 394 and 417. 2) ACIS Ops will prepare a CAP to be reviewed early this afternoon to turn side A of the DPA back on, reload version 53 of the patches, and reset the FP temperature set point. COM is at 4:05pm local time. 3) The anomaly occurred during the ascending leg ECS measurement OBSID 52186. OBSIDs 15703 and 16222 will produce no data. If the recovery goes as expected, the next OBSID 17422 should execute nominally.
