This is done to maintain health and trending data on both SSRs for the remainder of the mission, as well as lower thermal output during the “hot season”. For trending and analysis purposes, the swap will typically be aligned with the bi-annual report periods: Feb – July = SSR-B prime Aug – Jan = SSR-A prime However, operational conditions may dictate SSR swaps at other times as well. Radiation (Solar Activity): Over the weekend there was a rise in particle rated due to a passage of a CME which followed a long duration M1.9 flare a few days ago. The ACE P3 rates have been between 10,000 and 24,000 for the last 24 hours and around 10,000 for the last 5 hours. Solar activity is expected to be low with a slight 20% chance for an M-class flare on days one, two, and three (03 Aug, 04 Aug, 05 Aug). Radiation (Geophysical Activity): The geomagnetic field is expected to be at unsettled to minor storm levels on day one (03 Aug), quiet to unsettled levels on day two (04 Aug) and quiet levels on day three (05 Aug). MP: No issues. ENG: No issues. GOT: No issues.
