XMM-Newton Early-Type Galaxy AtlasThe hot gaseous halos in early type galaxies play a crucial role in understanding the formation and evolution of galaxies. Structural features of the hot ISM (including jets, cavities, cold fronts, filaments and tails) point to key evolutionary mechanisms, e.g., AGN feedback, merging history, accretion/stripping and star formation and its quenching. In our X-ray Galaxy Atlas project, we systematically analyze the archival XMM data of 40 ETGs to study the hot ISM. Taking full advantage of the XMM-Newton capabilities, we derive uniform data products of spatially resolved datasets with additional spectral information. We use MOS1 and MOS2 imaging data with no grating. We limit the minimum exposure time at 10 ksec. We produce the smooth image of the hot, diffuse gas after subtracting point sources. Applying four different spatial binning methods and spectra extraction and fitting per each bin, we also provided spectral maps (e.g., T, EM, Fe, projected pressure and entropy). We make these products publicly available and use them for our focused science goals NGA (Newton Galaxy Atlas)The full description of this atlas can be found in (DRAFT) Islam et al. 2021NGA Sample Galaxies text Individual XMM-Newton Observations text Overview of of the data Analysis Workflows png CGA (Chandra Galaxy Atlas)Link to CGAEinstein Galaxy AtlasFabbiano, Kim & Trinchieri 1992TeamThe XMM-Newton Galaxy Atlas is maintained by the NGA team.Dong-Woo Kim, Nazma Islam, Craig Anderson, Giuseppina Fabbiano, Jennifer L.
