Radiation

During this period, several radiation warnings were issued. The first set of warnings at 13:45 Oct 21 were due to a class X1.6 x-ray flare appeared on Oct 18-19. The ACE proton flux reached to 1.93e+05 p/(cm^2-s-sr-MeV). The load was halted at Oct 21 at 11:38am EDT, resumed on Oct 23 at 4:00am EDT
The second set of warnings were issued on Oct 25. The ACE proton flux was around 8.71e+04p/(cm^2-s-sr-MeV) on Oct 25 4a.m. On October 25 at 0800 UT ACE observed a P3 (130Kev) fluence of 3.6e8 particles/cm2-ster-MeV within 2 hours ) Load was stoppped after perigee passage at 2317 UT.
A new X1.4-flare was also reported on Oct 25. We expect the shock to arrive sometime on October 27 (DOY 300).

ACIS/Radiation Environment correlations

CTI Trend

Average of ACIS-I CCDs (MnKa) slope 1.379e-8 CTI/day
Detrended slope 1.284e-8 CTI/day

ACIS Warm Pixels

The following pixels consistently showed a bias level more than 5 sigma away the chip's mean level during this period.
We suspect some of the recurring bad pixels may be due to biases which are taken just after perigee, when the focal plane is somewhat warm. For more information see the link above and MTA monthly reports.

ACIS Focal Temperature

For this period, 2 peaks were observed.

Recent Observations

The ACA Problem is in the specified handling of guide star positional errors.
This issue in not significant to the final product and so is being worked at low priority.

Trending

This Week's focus Gratings
Temperatures in degrees K.
Current in Amps.
Voltage in Volts.

Most msids are keeping the same trends from the previous reporting period ( 08/03/01 - 08/09/01 weekly), however, some discontinuities were observed around dom 750 (around Aug 10; just around the previous reporting period) for grating motions.
Interesting trends are indicated with "*".
