These are the webpages relative to Sherpa in the CIAO 3.4 release (18 December 2006). They are no longer actively updated, however the CXC will continue limited support of CIAO 3.4 for the near future.

The newest version of the Chandra Interactive Analysis of Observations software, is CIAO 4.1, released on 15 December 2008. Read the release notes for detailed information. This release requires that CALDB 4.1.0 be installed for the software to work correctly.

  1. There are insignificant differences in Sherpa show output depending on whether the PAGER environment variable is set to "more" or "less -s".

  2. The show command is confused after sherpa_eval is used with read filter.

  1. There are insignificant differences in Sherpa show output depending on whether the PAGER environment variable is set to "more" or "less -s".

  2. The show command is confused after sherpa_eval is used with read filter.

    For example: 

    sherpa> data img.fits 
sherpa> () = sherpa_eval( "read filter 1 sfilt.fits fits" ) 
sherpa> show
...Current filters for dataset 1:
( read filter 1 sfilt.fits fits 
Noticed filter size: 38204 bins 
...

    Note the incorrect open parenthesis at the beginning of the filter specification.
