earth-acis-FOV code documentation
- Introduction:
The earth-acis-FOV software determines the solid angle of
earth shine that is incident on the ACIS cold radiator. This value
is important to understanding the heating of the focal plane as the
cold radiator is directly connected to the focal plane. While one
normally thinks of the heat being transferred from the focal plane
to the cold radiator out to space, the reverse can also happen. The
radiator is sheilded by two shades that are covered with goldized
Kapton. These shades are used in the calculations to include
internal reflections between the shades.
- Execution dependancies:
Code is automatically executed from within "lr" but can be run
independently if need be. In this case, execution would require
that the load review products are readily available, specifically
the MNVR summary file that is included in the backstop tar file for each
load.
- Script dependancies:
- Script is executed from lr
- Files required:
- /data/acis/LoadReviews/data/Chandra.stk
- /data/acis/LoadReviews/data/Sun.txt
These files are LINKS to the actual data files. If they are
out of date, please go
to:
the ACIS Ops Twiki, Ephemeris File Creation for
instructions on how to update these files.
- Scripts that depend on the outputs
- A plotting script, plot_FOV.pl, depends on the output.
