Posters and Microtalks
Posters
Posterboards are 4x4 ft. Posters should be mounted between 8:00AM and 8:45AM on Wednesday, and must be removed before 1pm Friday. Poster spots will be numbered in alphabetical order and an index posted, so that you can see where to place your poster when you arrive. We encourage you to include a photo of yourself somewhere on the poster so people can find you and ask silly questions, comment on your hairstyle, etc.
Electronic Submission
We would appreciate having an electronic copy of your poster. With
your permission, we will make this available on the website after
the meeting (subject to one update or revision after the meeting if
you wish). Please make SURE to name your electronic file:
LastName_FirstName_POSTER.ppt
e.g., Green_Paul_POSTER.ppt
We prefer you submit via ftp to a write-only site as follows:
ftp sao-ftp.cfa.harvard.edu
Login: anonymous
Passwd: your@email.address
cd /pub/xgal14
bin
put LastName_FirstName.ppt
quit
You could also send your electronic presentation by email to xgal14@cfa.harvard.edu but send a separate email telling us, in case the spam filters reject a large file.
Microtalks
The Microtalk session on Wednesday at 4pm allows poster presenters the option of taking 2 minutes to tell everybody about your poster and your project science. The 2 minute maximum will be enforced, so it is wise to time your presentation beforehand. No PPT projector will be available, but you may display up to two key figures as an overhead transparency, to accompany your oral abstract, haiku, limerick and/or interpretive dance. We will ASSUME that all poster presenters will give a Microtalk, and will call your name in alphabetical order. Please tell us in advance if you prefer NOT to present a Microtalk.
