OGIP: Office for Guest Investigator Programs

The Office for Guest Investigator Programs (OGIP) was a separate division of the Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics at Goddard Space Flight Center. The activities of that group have now become the responsibility of the HEASARC FITS Working Group (HFWG), which makes sure that FITS formats and keywords conform to the current standards and conventions. This office also supports the use of high energy astrophysics data through multimission standards and archive access, among other things. In addition, the OGIP is responsible for the administration of guest observer programs of several high-energy astrophysics missions, Chandra not included.
