ACIS: Advanced Camera for Imaging and Spectroscopy

CCD imaging detector on Chandra (PI: G.Garmire, Penn State U., with the collaboration of MIT). Contains two arrays: a square for imaging (ACIS-I) and a narrower strip (ACIS-S), primarily for readout of the diffraction gratings - primarily the HETG, but also the LETG.
