In addition to the tabulated properties for each detected source and observation in the Master Sources Table, Stacked Observation Detections Table, and Per-Observation Detections Table, a number of full-field data products are produced for each observation individually, in formats suitable for analysis in CIAO. These include such things as:

Full-Field Per-Observation Data Products

A set of full-field (i.e. observation-based) data products is created for each observation that undergoes catalog processing. They are identified by the observation identification (obsid) and observation interval identification (obi), and by cycle for ACIS alternating exposure (interleaved) mode observations.

Data product Pipeline Filename
Per-ObsId event list 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_evt3.fits
Per-ObsId image 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_〈b〉_img3.fits, 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_〈f〉_img3.jpg
Per-ObsId background image 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_〈b〉_bkgimg3.fits
Per-ObsId exposure map 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_〈b〉_exp3.fits
Per-ObsId aspect solution (includes fine astrometry updates) 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_asol3.fits
Per-ObsId aspect histogram 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_ahst3.fits
Per-Obsid bad pixels 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_bpix3.fits
Per-ObsId field of view 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_fov3.fits
Per-ObsId pixel mask 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_pixmask3.fits
Per-ObsId extended source region polygons 〈i〉〈s〉〈obs〉_〈obi〉N〈v〉[_〈c〉]_〈b〉_poly3.fits

How Do I Find These Data Products?

Per-observation, full-field data products can be retrieved using CSCview. They can be selected from the Data products pane in the Results tab of CSCview (see areas highlighted in the figure), associated to one or more rows returned by the query, and by clicking on Search. The number of data products returned by CSCview as a function of the identifiers available in the rows select is determined as described in "CSCview and CSC 2.1 Help".

Filename Example

〈i〉 refers to detector used, formatted "acis", "hrc", or "pcad", 〈s〉 is the source data "f" or "s", for "flight" data or simulated data, respectively.

For the source region image file name, acisf11978_001N020_b_img3.fits.gz the 〈obs〉 refers to ObsID 11978 and 〈obi〉 is the ObsID's observation interval, 1 in this case. The ObIs are numbered in three digits and the numbering within an ObsID does not have to be contiguous and might not start at zero (000).

〈v〉 is a three digit data product revision number preceded by "N", N020 means file revision version 20. 〈r〉 is the region ID, preceded by an "r" and appended by the 〈b〉 for the science energy band: "b", "h", "m", "s", "u", or "w". In this instance, in the file names, the _b_ refers to the "broad" energy band. The file name is ended with the data product type and appended with the gzipped FITS file extension.
