Set XSPEC solar abundance




The set_xsabund command sets the elemental abundance table used in XSpec plasma-code models. The get_xsabund command returns the current setting. The set_xsabund command accepts user-defined files containing solar abundances, in addition to the options listed in the table below. The input file should be in ASCII format, containing a single column of 30 float-type abundance values, all relative to Hydrogen.

XSpec version

This information is taken from the XSpec User's Guide. Version 12.6.0l of the XSpec models is supplied with CIAO 4.3.

Example 1

sherpa> print get_xsabund()
sherpa> set_xsabund("wilm")
Solar Abundance Vector set to wilm: Wilms, J., Allen, A. & McCray, R.
ApJ 542 914 (2000) (abundances are set to zero for those elements not
included in the paper).

The current abundance setting is retrieved ("angr", the default). It is then changed to "wilm".

Example 2

sherpa> set_xsabund("myabund.dat")

Solar abundances are set with a user-defined ASCII file containing a column of float-type solar abundance values.

The set_xsabund command now accepts user-defined files containing solar abundances.
